Este Journal es la continuación del anterior, dedicado a lo que hice para el disco “Ciudadano Zero” del grupo gallego de Funk Metal The CODENAME. Grupo que recomiendo encarecidamente, si queréis oír algo de ellos, podéis hacerlo en su myspace.

Este grupo de bocetos (puestos en el anterior journal) son los diseños para el personaje de la portada del disco, un homenaje al Principito de Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.


En las dos primeras páginas de bocetos busqué la línea del dibujo. No podía hacerlo cómo en la portada del Principito. El niño tenía que haber crecido así cómo su propio mundo. Quería algo fresco, entre cartoon y manga, y creo que al final, salió, más o menos.

   Esta es la línea del dibujo, cuando por fin encontré lo que quería.

   Estudios de luces y sombras. En una fotocopia pongo el dibujo varias veces y eso me permite hacer los estudios. No llegué a hacer el segundo (el que se ve en azul) porque al final, mientras lo hacía, me convencía más y más el primer estudio.

   Después de hacer el estudio en pequeño, y habiendo hecho algunas fotocopias de la línea), pasé ese estudio de sombras a un A4 (el tamaño del original) con un rotulador amarillo, marcando así el espacio de las sombras que proyectaría sobre el cuerpo y la ropa del Principito uno de los elementos de la portada: el hongo nuclear.

   Esta es la versión a color básica del Principito.

Second issue


This Journal is a continuation of the last Journal, dedicated to the job I´ve made for the cover of the disc “Ciudadano Zero” (Citizen Zero) by the Galician group of Funk Metal called The CODENAME. I really recommend this band, if you want to hear something of them, you can do it in their myspace.

This group of sketches (placed in the previous journal) are the designs for the character of the front of the disc, an honoring to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's Littel Prince.

In the first two pages of sketches I looked for a way for the drawing line. I couldnt´ do it in the way of the Little Prince´s cover book. The child had to grow like his own world. I wanted something fresh, between cartoon and manga, and I believe in the end, I´ll take it, more or less.

   This is the drawing line, when I found want I want to Express.

   Studies of lights and shades. In a photocopy I put the drawing several times and it allows me to do the studies. I did not manage to do the second one (the one that one sees in blue) because ultimately, while I was doing it, the first study was becoming convinced to me more and more.

   After doing the study in small, and having done some photocopies of the line, I passed this study of shades to an A4 (the size of the original one) with a yellow felt-tip pen, marking this way the space of the shades that would project on the body and the clothes of the (no more Little) Prince one of the elements of the disc cover: the nuclear mushroom.

   This is the Basic color version for the Prince.
